Le Renaissance Café Patisserie, The Rocks
Although birthday cakes tend to be more common, but I thought it would be nice to celebrate JC and my anniversary with some cakes too. I already had a thought in mind to buy some cakes from Le Renaissance in The Rocks on the actual day and take it back home as a dessert. I absolutely adore their cheesecake because it tastes so smooth and rich that the first time I tried I fell in love with it. And since JC never tried it so it’s the perfect excuse for me to get a couple of pieces of cakes there.

Being a Friday afternoon, the place was absolutely packed with people. As you can see the crazy queue outside the little café. I have no choice but to line up for 15 mins to get my dream cheesecake.
Cheese Cake, $5.50
I made use of the 15 mins queuing up time wisely and choose the 3 most appealing cakes out of the colourful window. I told myself, cheesecake gotta be one of the choice, Lemon tart next as I fancy anything lemony…then the 3rd probably something chocolate and rich so I decided to get the Aroma. The cheese cake was really nice, smooth and cheesy, it is the major reason why I kept coming back.
Lemon Tart, $5.00
First of all, tart itself looks amazing with the shiny glaze on top, the size is big and the base looks crunchy. Everything was nice, I mean the tart has a soft and smooth lemon filling but oh my dear god! It was so sour… that I got the worse sour-face ever. I couldn’t take it anymore so JC was happy to finish it all.
Aroma, Eat in $6.00
Aroma has 3 layers of mouth-watering chocolate mousse, bottom being a milk chocolate mousse, middle is a white chocolate mousse and at the top is a thin layer of dark chocolate mousse with a dash of coffee. The cake is really nice as it is moist and not overly sweet.
Conclusion: This place was a bit of trouble to find a parking but well worth the wait and long lines. Le Renaissance food can be enjoyed in the outdoor courtyard between historic sandstones walls with a cup of delicious coffee. It may also be packaged for take away. If you want to impress family or clients, La Renaissance also does catering for parties and events.
