Kungfu Ramen, Haymarket Chinatown
Former Vietnamese restaurant Xic Lo is now Kungfu Ramen. Specialised in hand pull noodle with a reasonable priced menu. Similar to other Northern Chinese restaurant like SeaBay or Chinese dumplings restaurant in Chinatown, pan fried dumplings, bbq lamb skewer is pretty standard. The service was really nice as the chef allows me to take pics and witness a live show of hand-pulling of noodles.

Kungfu Ramen (beef), $10
For a $10 dinner I can’t complain much. The beef slice was cold and tough to chew but that wasn’t what I am after. The broth is savory and sweeten by white raddish but the real star of the meal are the noodles… the perfect texture of soft and chewy. I am a noodle soup queen so I have no problem slurping on a bowl of noodle even without any ingredients or toppings as long as the noodle are up to scratch. But I know most people are after a lot of ingredients and toppings and would treat the noodle as a side thing.
Watching the chef slamming the dough so vigorously and then stretching it until it becomes these long thin strands was exciting. At least I know my noodle was made fresh to order.
Shish-Kebab (5 Skewers per serving), $10
These lamb skewers can’t go wrong when they are grill under a charcoal stove. The flavours was intense, with slightly dry and chewy tidbits of meats. I can have 5 of those.
Conclusion: A quick fix for dinner if you are after some northern Chinese noodle and skewer that is cheap and without the queue. It’s not something that would wow you but the noodle is made fresh and chewy. I gave credit to the hand-pull chef.

Yum! Looks good. I too looove noodles! I am crazy over rice noodles, hokkien noodles, singaporean noodles, udon, soba and ramen!
